Overview

An international engineering and instrumentation business is seeking a Junior Field Service Engineer to support the installation, maintenance, calibration and servicing of electro-mechanical laboratory equipment across West Africa. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded engineer looking to develop hands-on field service experience within a specialist technical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation, servicing and calibration of laboratory instrumentation at customer sites.
  • Support preventative maintenance activities in line with company procedures and ISO / ASTM standards.
  • Diagnose basic mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
  • Complete service reports, calibration documentation and maintenance records accurately.
  • Travel to customer facilities across West Africa when required.
  • Provide professional technical support and maintain positive customer relationships.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior engineering staff.
  • Assist with equipment commissioning and testing activities.
  • Participate in technical training and ongoing development programmes.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar technical field.
  • 1–3 years of technical, maintenance or engineering support experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of electrical wiring and fault-finding principles.
  • Exposure to laboratory, manufacturing or industrial equipment advantageous.
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop field engineering skills.
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage travel schedules.
  • English communication skills advantageous.
